According to the Wine Exporters and Producers Association of Romania, in the country there are three big vineyards, of which are part 120 viticulture centers, to which add other 40 independent viticulture centers. Even if they didn’t manage to impose as top destinations for this chapter, Romania is one of the world’s viticulture countries with a vineyard surface of 243.000 hectares. As for the wine variety, there are being remarked the valuable domestic varieties, kept also after the invasion of phylloxera, such as Grasa de Cotnari, Feteasca alba, Feteasca regala, Galbena de Odobesti (for white wines), Babeasca neagra, Feteasca neagra, Tamaioasa romaneasca and Busuioaca de Bohotin (flavored wines). Each wine area has developed more or less a wine road, for which was tested a governmental program a few years ago. The good news is that such projects can be developed with European money. There is interest for this type of touristic products, an example being the one of the Halewood wine cellars that were visited during last year of about 12.000 visitors, of which 10.000 have chosen as destination the Rhein&Cie 1892 wine cellars from Azuga.
