MGM to post full films on YouTube
Metro Goldwin Mayer (MGM), one of the biggest studios of cinema production in the world, is the first player in domain who decided to post full length films on YouTube, instead of the usual trailers and promo videos, the officials of those two companies say. Google is testing new methods for obtaining profit by YouTube , one of the solutions being to insert commercials in the clips that appear on the site. However, it seems that for gaining the audience, the officials decided to include also full length films along commercials. The movie industry continues to be reticent in what concerns the online films, even if two of the biggest American media companies had success by setting up the rival site Hulu.com, the popular online hub for television shows and feature films. Google continues to face problems with the author rights, but the company’s officials throw the blame on the users who load clips on the site. The process with Viacom, owner of MTV, continues, and the company is asking for damages amounted to one billion dollars. Although, probable in the end most of the media companies will co-operate with Google for posting the films on YouTube. The huge audience represents a magnet for the marketing people. The company is working at the moment to realize a soft of video player which to allow optimizing the images, in order that the viewing to be better than it is at the moment. The problem remains one of penetration the broadband services, because there are needed services of high quality for watching a movie without interruptions.
