Bechtel Asphalted 30 Km Of A 42-Km Sector On Romania’s Transylvania Highway
US company Bechtel, working at the construction of Romania's Transylvania Highway since 2004, asphalted 30 kilometers of the 42 kilometer road sector Campia Turzii-Gilau, approximately 80% of the construction works for this sector, the company said Monday. The rest of 12 kilometers are due until January.
Bechtel is also working on the road sector Suplacu de Barcau-Bors, as well as on the viaduct in Suplacu de Barcau, the largest viaduct included in the construction project, where the company already started to mount U-type girders.
The Romanian authorities allocated EUR700 million for Transylvania Highway during 2007-2008, and this year EUR119 million have been assigned to the Transylvania Highway, said Prime Minister Emil Boc in mid-May.
Based on the protocol signed between the Transport Ministry and Bechtel, the company will receive this year EUR420 million, in change having to finish the 42 kilometers of Campia Turzii-Gilau road sector.
