Romanian MPs Voted a Legislative Proposal Allowing the Government to Draft State Budget
The draft amendment to the Law organizing the Government, enabling the dismissed Cabinet to draft the 2010 state budget and social security budget, was enacted today by open vote in the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, with no cons and only two abstentions. Meeting chairwoman Daniela Popa did not state the number of votes expressed in favor. The normative act was sent to Senate, which is the decision maker in this matter.
The normative act was debated in a plenary meeting of the Chamber Monday afternoon, but it wasn’t enacted because of the lack of quorum.
The normative act amends article 26 of Law 90/2001 on the organization of the government and stipulates that, under extraordinary circumstances, whose regulation cannot be postponed, the Government can initiate draft laws to ratify international treaties and the draft state and social security budgets.
