Romania’s Inflation in February, 2nd Highest in EU
According to official data released today, Romanian annual inflation reached 4.5% in February, the second highest rate in the European Union, after Hungary, which reported an annual inflation of 5.6%. EU's annual inflation was 1.4% in February, down from 1.7% a month earlier. Romania was followed by Poland (3.4%) and the lowest rates were observed in Latvia (-4.3%), Ireland (-2.4%) and Lithuania (-0.6%), Eurostat data showed. Romanian consumer prices rose 0.2% in February compared with the month earlier. EU's monthly inflation was 0.3%.
Annual inflation in the 16 states that use the euro was 0.9% in February, down from 1% in January.
In February, the lowest annual rates were observed in Latvia (-3.3%), Ireland (-2.4%) and Estonia (-1.0%), and the highest also in Hungary (6.2%), Romania (5.2%) and Poland (3.9%).
