Romania’s Car Market Dropped 49% in Jan-May
In the first five months of the year, the Romanian car market has dropped 49% regarding the number of new car registrations, to 26,351 units, the biggest drop in the European Union, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
The biggest increase in the number of car registrations in the January-May interval was reported by Portugal (56.3%) and in May by Ireland (70.6%). The Romanian passenger car market fell by 24.6% in May, compared to the same interval last year. Germany posted the biggest number of registration in the EU both in May and in the first five months of the year.
Registrations of new Dacia cars were up 21.3% to 108,505 units in the first five months of the year in the EU, compared with the same interval in 2009. In May, the registrations fell by 5.4%, to 23,415 units, following a 15.6% decline in April.
