Romania's Defense Council Will Meet on Tuesday
Romanian president Traian Basescu asked for the assembly of the country’s Supreme Defense Council CSAT on Tuesday, June 22, at the Cotroceni palace. The discutions will focus on Romania's national defense strategy, Romania's military forces and means that can be provided for military missions outside the Romanian territory in 2011, the national strategy for prevention and fight against money laundering and financing of terrorist acts, as well as issues on ensuring the sustainability of public budgets by fighting economic crimes, counteracting the use of «ghost firms» by trans-border organized crime rings and evaluating the situation in Afghanistan by implementing NATO's Comprehensive Strategic Political-Military Plan, the Romanian Presidency said in a press release Monday.
Defense Council members include the ministers of national defense, interior, foreign affairs, justice, economy, public finance, the head of the Romanian Intelligence Service SRI, the head of the Romanian Foreign Intelligence Service SIE, the chief of the General Staff and the presidential adviser on national security issues.
