The Moscow stock exchange defies the international crisis
Opposite the collapse of all the international markets, the indexes from Moscow started in 2008 on green color, sustained by the good evolution of Gazprom’s shares, the greatest producer of gas at world level that increased up to 6% in this year.
The investors optimism is supplied by the good perspectives of the politic scene, given by the great chances of the Gazproms’ President, Dmitry Medvedev, of succeeding Vladimir Putin at the leading of Russia at the elections from March. The investors stake on the fact that Medvedev, proposed and supported by even Putin for the president position, will be a great advocate of the natural gas industry from Russia. According the surveys, Medvedev, which owns the position of vice-president, too, has the sustaining of about half of the Russian poll, although had taken steps for the increment of gas prices, in the attempt of favor Gazprom.
Gazproms’ shares reached to an historical maximum of 15 dollars this week, in increase with 6,3% in 2008. The main stock exchange index of the Russian market, RTS- denominative in dollars, increased with 2,15% in those four transaction sessions from the beginning of the year.
The trend of the end of year is being confirmed
The increasing trend of the Russian shares has outlined at the end of November, last year, after the sustaining of Putin for the United Russia Party and for Medvedev has became more obvious. In the fallowing week after Putins’ statement of politic support, the capital afflux regarding the funds increased twice, reaching to 140 billion dollars. „After the designation of Dmitri Medvedev candidate-ship in the race for presidential elections, the investors are certain that the politic situation from Russia will be steady in the period that will fallow „, estimated a Deutsche Bank analyst.
The experts are waiting that the politic stability to assure Russia a second place, after China, in what regards the foreign investments on the emergent markets.
