Romania’s Foreign Tourism Promotion Budget Should Be Increased

Romania’s Foreign Tourism Promotion Budget Should Be Increased

Tim Grosse, TUI Romania general manager, considers Romania’s foreign tourism promotion budget, around EUR5 million for 2010, to be very low and should be increased in order to obtain satisfactory results. "With such an inadequate EUR5 million budget you can only attend a few fares. For the German market alone, Bulgaria's promotion budget is over EUR10 million and Austria invests more than EUR20 million," Grosse said.   TUI Romania general manager also added that the low budget makes it impossible to promote the country's brand and expand to other markets, such as Scandinavia, which TUI regards as one of the most important.   German Group TUI, one of the world's leading tour operators, will resume operations on the Romanian market as of 2010. Romania is included in the operators' catalogues as of November 2009. citeste mai mult

The german tour-operator TUI returns to Romania next year

Romania’s Ministery of Tourism has signed a partnership with the german group TUI. As a result of this agreement, the german tour-operator will return to Romania next year and the romanian tourist destinations will be included in the TUI catalogue.   Also, the ministery negociated with the german company Air Berlin the acquisition of a charter plane which will transport german tourists to the Kogalniceanu Aiport in Constanta.   TUI decided to stop bringing tourists to Romania and take out of it’s catalogue the romanian tourist destinations in 2006, because of the poor accommodation conditions, high prices charged by the hotels, loud noise and the lack of cleanliness in the tourist locations. citeste mai mult

Romanian tourism dropped by 40% in six months, due to crisis

In the first six months of the year, tourism agencies recorded sales drop over the values estimated at the beginning of 2009. According to some sources Romanian tourism saw a staggering 40% drop comparative to the same period of last year. Overall, the most affected segment was for external destinations, especially the ones that included charter travel, where the fill rate reached only 60%. This is also the reason why the Romanian market is now full of special tourism offers , like city break package. The crisis also affected the consumer’s behavior which became more responsive to special offers and last minute offers. They also turned to cheaper destinations and to individual tourism. On the upside, the deluxe tourism segment doesn’t show signs of recession. Companies report a 50% increase compared to last year. The World Tourism Organization revised to 6% it’s drop estimates for the year in course. Translated by: Tradu.org citeste mai mult

Outgoing tourism demand will moderate in 2009

Outgoing tourism demand will moderate in 2009

Even if the sales for New Year’s Eve don’t put up to the expectations, the Romanian tour-operators are already preparing touristic offers for the next year.  The “coordinates” of the touristic year that starts in 2009 consist in inserting new charter flights, the decrease of price to some worldwide touristic services (due to the decrease in demand generated by the economic crisis) and aggressive promotion of some destinations. So the Romanians will be able to choose among the new charter flights to Santorini, Mykonos, Chefalonia, new products being also prepared for destinations such as Singapore, France or Austria. The demand for worldwide packages won’t record anymore the advance of 30% registered this year. When we refer to new service packages, there must be mentioned the new charter flights to the Greek isles Santorini, Mikonos and Chefalonia. “Beside the traditional charter flights, such as Mallorca, Barcelona, Crete, Rhodes and... citeste mai mult
