Romania Jobless Rate Rised To 7.5% in the last trimester of 2009

According to the National Statistics Institute, Romania's unemployment rate rose to 7.5% in the fourth quarter of 2009, up from 6.8% in the third trimester, to 731,000 jobless people. In the same period the year before, the unemployment rate was 5.8%. Romania's total labor force in the last quarter of 2009 was estimated at 9.75 million people.  Romania’s January Unemployment Rate Rose to 8.1%

In the first month of the year, Romania’s unemployment rose at 8.1%, the highest level since January 2003, when it reached 8.6%, according to official data showed Monday by the National Employment Agency ANOFM. The total number of unemployed people rose to 740,982 in January, from 709,383 in December, when the unemployment was 7.8%, significantly higher than the one registered in the first month of 2009.   According to ANOFM, 459.158 persons receive compensations and 281.824 unemployed people do not. Romania Cannot Raise Public Sector Wages

Romanian Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu didn’t have any comments regarding the decision of public administration employees to cease work for two hours Tuesday morning disgruntled by wage cuts and planned layoffs. As for the ones who want bigger wages, the minister said that the Government cannot raise salaries this year.  "My message for those who protest over furlough is that the issue will be solved Friday. An inhabitant from Iasi ranks 2nd at Microsoft - Imagine Cup

The big problems of the actual world – global warming, fight against hunger or against AIDS, the disease of the XX century, these are challenges which informaticians can solve. With many work and creativity, they can set up technological innovations that can change the world. These are the challenges which determined the Microsoft representatives to set up a global competition directed to the students all over the world, this year being at the sixth edition. An inhabitant of Iasi managed to make himself conspicuous out of a pool of 200.000 competitors and to finish on the second place at one of the sections from the Imagine Cup competition. After three rounds of sorting out, in a race with over 200.000 competitors, he ranks on the 2nd place. “I was sure that I would win.
